Caprese Salad

You can’t go wrong with the vibrant flavors of this classic salad.

Ingredients

  • 2 medium tomatoes, sliced
  • 8 oz ball of fresh mozzarella, sliced
  • 10-15 basil leaves
  • 1/2 cup balsamic vinegar
  • salt

Instructions

  • Make a balsamic reduction by simmering the balsamic vinegar in a saucepan until it has reduced by about half, typically 10-15 minutes. Allow the vinegar to cool, as it will thicken further.
  • Arrange the tomato, mozzarella, and basil on a plate, alternating between each. You may make single stacks of each or long rows.
  • Drizzle the balsamic reduction over the salad.
  • Sprinkle with salt.

-*Use any tomato you like. Heirloom or vine-ripened tomatoes are good options.
